How to Make Cracker Candy

December 21, 2018

There’s no shortage of sweet treats and fun bites during the holiday season. Whether you are at a party or at home on the couch, having a little something sweet just feels right. It also makes a great gift for neighbors, friends and family! I have a treat that I make every Christmas that keeps people coming back for more — cracker candy.

Cracker candy is basically a homemade version of toffee, but it is super easy and quick. I have yet to leave a dinner or party with any pieces of cracker candy leftover, and it’s now requested every time. The balance of chocolate and caramel-y toffee and just the right amount of crunch makes this just about irresistible.

This is a great dessert to make while watching Christmas movies with your family or while getting ready for a party. Bring it to your next holiday party or gift it to your friends – it’s sure to wow them! Here’s how to make cracker candy. Let me know how you like it!

NOTE: These can also be made with saltines. I’ve made it both ways, but the graham cracker ones have more depth in my opinion and are gobbled up quicker. Feel free to try it either way!

Cracker Candy

Ingredients

  • 1 box graham crackers
  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Get out a sheet pan and line it with foil, then place the graham crackers on the foil until it’s covered.

  2. In a pot, boil the butter and brown sugar on medium heat for 5-7 minutes.

  3. Pour butter and brown sugar mixture over the graham crackers, and put it in the over for 5 minutes.

  4. Take the pan out of the oven, and sprinkle the chocolate chips all over it. Put it back in the oven for just 1 minute.

  5. Now that the chips are melty, take the pan out of the oven again, and spread the chocolate out smoothly.

  6. Put the pan in the fridge for 1 hour or the freezer for 30 minutes to solidify, then break it up into bite-sized pieces! It can stay in the fridge for up to a week (if it’ll last that long!)
